Altit (TDI): Romania’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dan Stoenescu, visited Gilgit Baltistan and was left mesmerized by the beauty, tradition, lifestyle, history, and resilience of the local communities.
He specially visited the Altit Fort and spent time roaming around in the village, discovering the local way of life and interacting with the communities living there.
Dan Stoenescu was particularly excited to meet the gold-digger community. Appreciating their hard work and lifestyle, Dan said: “They continue the centuries-old practice of panning for gold — a beautiful tradition rooted in patience, skill, and respect for nature.”

Dan was touched by the beauty of the Royal Garden that surrounds the historic Altit Fort. He remembered it as a “place where time seems to stand still.”
Upon his interaction with the villagers of Altit, Dan learnt about their gracious hearts and welcoming hospitality.
“I was moved by the traditional way of life and the warm hospitality of the local people. Every alley and stone whispers stories of history and resilience,” he remarked.
The Ambassador noticed the diverse nature of communities living in Gilgit Baltistan and how their unique and very traditional life styles compliment the natural beauty of the region.
Gilgit is a great tourist attraction, especially during the hot summers, which are now setting in. The region attracts both locals and foreigners toward its lush green landscape and lofty mountains. The locals of Gilgit are also a valuable heritage, carrying with them centuries of wisdom and tradition.
Romania’s Dan Stoenescu Gilgit trip reflect the very sentiments that many tourists carry back with them – a soft image of the country, the many hidden treasures, and the resilience of people living in the mountains.
“Pakistan continues to amaze me — not just with its landscapes, but with its people and living traditions. I encourage everyone to explore the hidden treasures of this land,” Dan said.
