Abu Dhabi (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday extended his gratitude to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates for its key role in helping defuse recent tensions between Pakistan and India.
During a high-level meeting in Abu Dhabi with UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Pakistani premier acknowledged the Gulf nation’s ongoing efforts to promote peace, dialogue, and regional stability.
The visit to Abu Dhabi was part of the prime minister’s one-day official trip to the UAE, aimed at conveying Pakistan’s appreciation to countries that supported its stance during the standoff with India, which escalated after what Islamabad described as a “false flag operation” carried out by New Delhi in Pahalgam.
The confrontation led to cross-border missile and air strikes. According to the Pakistani military, India lost six aircraft in the exchange, including a Rafale fighter jet.
