Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart Monday for a two-day official visit to Doha aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new areas of cooperation with Qatar, the Foreign Office (FO) announced.

According to the FO, the visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the trip, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold a bilateral meeting with the Qatari leadership covering the full spectrum of relations between the two countries. Discussions are expected to focus on political engagement, economic collaboration, energy cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

The FO said both sides will also examine fresh opportunities for partnership, particularly in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development, and the export of skilled manpower from Pakistan.

Highlighting the nature of the relationship, the FO described Pakistan and Qatar as long-standing partners bound by mutual trust and close coordination at regional and international forums. The visit, it added, will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to exchange views on key regional and global developments, while reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other ministers and senior officials.

Pakistan and Qatar maintain strong diplomatic relations, underpinned by shared faith and longstanding people-to-people connections. Prime Minister Shehbaz previously visited Doha twice in September 2025, first to express solidarity following Israeli attacks, and later to attend a joint summit of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. On both occasions, he met Sheikh Tamim and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the Gulf state.

The visit is expected to further consolidate the multifaceted partnership between the two countries.
