PM Shehbaz, Aliyev Vow to Boost Strategic Ties

Lachin (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed on Tuesday the shared commitment to diversifying the bilateral strategic partnership through investment in mutually beneficial avenues.

Prime Minister Shehbaz met with President Aliyev in Lachin to comprehensively discuss bilateral ties, according to a statement issued by the PM house.

During the meeting, both leaders highlighted the significance of coordinated efforts for regional peace and reiterated their principled positions on major global issues.

The talks on Azerbaijan’s Independence Day and on the eve of a trilateral summit of Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkiye, added a symbolic dimension to the discussion between the two leaders. The prime minister also felicitated President Aliyev on this important national occasion.

He thanked expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for its firm support during the recent military standoff between Pakistan and India and praised the public expressions of solidarity from both the leadership and the public of Azerbaijan.

He stated that Azerbaijan’s people celebrated Pakistan’s success in Maarka-e-Haq.

The PM said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan had supported each other on every occasion and would continue to do so.

PM Shehbaz and President Aliyev expressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory of collaboration between the two countries in political, economic, defense, and cultural domains.

They reaffirmed their mutual commitment to diversifying the strategic ties through investment in mutually beneficial sectors.

The Azerbaijan side also agreed that delegation-level negotiations in this regard would be conducted soon.

PM Shehbaz stated that holding the bilateral meeting in Lachin, a city that reflects the exemplary journey of resilience and restoration of the Central Asian country, carried deep symbolic and emotional importance for both sides.

The meeting concluded with both sides reiterating their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and working closely to advance their common objectives at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
