Islamabad, 11 September 2021 (TDI): The meeting between Chiefs of Intelligence Agencies of seven countries, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, was held in Islamabad on 11 September 2021.
The Chiefs of regional intelligence agencies met in Pakistan under the hosting of Pakistan’s Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed. Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed also visited Kabul last week.
The purpose of the regional intelligence chiefs’ gathering is to discuss development in Afghanistan. In the efforts to maintain peace and stability of the region, they exchanged views on the situation of Kabul (as the Taliban has announced to establish an interim government).
In this regard, Pakistan also organized a virtual meeting of regional foreign ministers. In which Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi of China, Foreign Minister Amir Abdolahian of Iran, Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin of Tajikistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan, and Foreign Minister Abdul Aziz Kamilov of Uzbekistan participated on 8 September 2021.
