Islamabad, 7 February 2024 (TDI): Russian Senator Vladimir Chizhov extended sincere wishes to the people of Pakistan for a free and transparent electoral process in the General Elections scheduled to be held on February 8 in the country.
The Deputy Chairman of the Senate, Mirza Mohammad Afridi, along with a delegation of Senators, including Senator Fawzia Arshad and Danesh Kumar, hosted Senator Vladimir Chizhov and his team at the Parliament House.
Deputy Chairman Afridi welcomed the delegate as the International Observer for the General Elections 2024. He emphasized Pakistan’s high regard for its relations with the Russian Federation.
Additionally, he conveyed warm wishes on behalf of Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani to the speakers of both houses of the Russian Federation.
Deputy Chairman Afridi acknowledged Russia’s support on Kashmir and Palestine issues. He expressed Pakistan’s desire for a long-term, multidimensional partnership with Russia.
In particular, this partnership would encompass areas such as trade, agriculture, food security, energy, defense, and people-to-people contacts.
Moreover, he highlighted the need for Russian assistance in attracting investment to Pakistan under the newly launched Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Senator Vladimir A. Chizhov, serving as the International Observer for Pakistan’s General Elections 2024, extended sincere wishes to the people of Pakistan for a free and transparent electoral process.
Mr. Chizhov, the leader of the delegation, looked forward to witnessing a successful and inclusive electoral process. He hoped it would reflect the will of the citizens and uphold the principles of democracy.

The Deputy Chairman Senate observed that Pakistan and Russia share a lot of commonalities. Both countries desire to have strong institutional linkages, inter-parliamentary relations, and people-to-people contact to further deepen mutual cooperation.
Furthermore, Senators Fawzia Arshad and Danesh Kumar also turned ties with Russia historic calling for strong multilateral contacts.
The delegation thanked deputy chairman senate for hospitality. ” We have a lot in common for future development” , members of the Russian delegation said.
Both sides called for boosting parliamentary exchanges and exploring opportunities for cooperation in diverse sectors. Lastly, both the dignitaries exchanged warm souvenirs with each other.
