Islamabad (TDI): The upper chamber of the parliament, Senate, on Thursday passed a resolution congratulating the government for graciously and successfully holding the SCO Council of Heads of the Government summit in Islamabad.
The resolution was moved by Senator Sherry Rehman and soon majority of the members opted to support it.
The resolution expressed the confidence that the progress made at this event will go a long way in Pakistan’s growing geo-economic profile.
It also praised the success on diplomatic front that would make Pakistan more effective for playing role in enhanced regional connectivity, investment, infrastructure, climate and its role in achieving security goals.

Earlier, in an interview with a private TV channel Spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that it (the SCO summit) was a diplomatic triumph for Pakistan.
The leaders of all SCO member states took to social media to express their gratitude and appreciation for Pakistan’s traditional hospitality, showcasing the country’s renowned warmth and welcoming nature, she added.
She cited example of Foreign Minister of India, arch-rival of Pakistan, Jaishankar who thanked Government of Pakistan for warm welcome and hospitality.

Over a dozen of Key leaders from the regional countries including Premiers of China and Russia besides dignitaries from the regional organizations visited Pakistan.
Majority of them held bilateral meetings with Pakistani leaderships on the sideline of the summit and signed bilateral agreements as well as MoUs with Pakistan.
The government was successfully in appealing foreign minister of the regional arch-rival, India, to attend the meeting, though Pakistan-India ties are at the historical lowest ebb. He visited Islamabad and astonishingly appreciated Pakistan.
