Washington, 29 August 2021 (TDI): Secretary of the United States of America Antony J. Blinken thanked the Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide. The reason behind this gesture was the service provided by Norwegian medical personnel at Hamid Karzai International Airport. They treated more than 50 victims of the horrific August 26 terrorist attack in Kabul, as well as for Norwegian contributions to the evacuation of US citizens, allies, and vulnerable Afghan citizens. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Søreide spoke about the security situation in Kabul as well as diplomatic efforts to create a coordinated international response to Afghanistan’s issues.
