Blinken talked with Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, yesterday. They addressed the situation in Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for continuing operations at Hamid Karzai International Airport after Coalition forces leave, to ensure that humanitarian aid and necessary travel may continue. Secretary Blinken thanked the Minister for his unwavering support, humanitarian efforts, and relentless efforts to ensure the safe transportation of American citizens, embassy employees, and other individuals evacuated from Kabul to third countries.
