Secretary Blinken communicated with Columbian officials

July 26, 2021 – (TDI):  The Secretary of the United States of America, Antony J. Blinken communicated with the Vice President and Foreign Minister of Colombia, Marta Lucia Ramirez. He reasserted the endurance of the bilateral relationship of both nations. He discussed the significance of supporting and promoting democracy in the region, especially in Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba. He appreciated the Columbian assistance to the migrant population of Venezuela. He also noted US determination to aid Colombia in its fight against COVID-19, as expressed by the donation of 2.5 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine and 3.5 million doses of the Moderna Covid vaccine to Colombia. He reiterated their mutual resolve to enhance regional citizen security, the counter-narcotic response, and also addressing the concerns of civilians. Moreover, the US is determined to assist in bringing durable peace to Colombia and promoting its economic growth.
