Ulan Bator: 27 July 2021 (TDI): The Chinese state councilor and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe arrived in Mongolia on Monday. The visiting defense minister was welcomed by the Mongolian Defense Minister Gursediin Saikhanbayar. The Chinese general also met Mongolia’s parliamentary speaker Gombojav Zandanshatar on Monday.
In the meeting between the Mongolian and Chinese defense ministers, both sides agreed to increase constructive collaboration between the Mongolian and Chinese militaries.
General Wei Fenghe during the meeting applauded the relations between Mongolia and China and stated that both are friendly neighbors connected through mountains and rivers. He appreciated the collaboration between both states in COVID times and further advised the Mongolian side to collaborate with China in achieving the common aims and goals of both states and also for contributing towards regional peace and stability. General Wei also expressed the desire of the Chinese military to collaborate with the Mongolian side to sincerely enact the significant consensus surpassed by the two countries’ leaders.
For his part, Mongolian defense minister Saikhanbayar congratulated China on the centennial of the CPC. He also mentioned that Mongolia fully appreciates the Chinese aim of building a prosperous future for all. Saikhanbayar also thanked China for supporting Mongolia in times of pandemic. He further added that Mongolia fully respects the relations with China and that it aims at building a better collaborative future with China by cooperating in fields such as defense and security. He also expressed his willingness to work along with China on regional issues and to make a fruitful contribution towards regional development and peace.
