Islamabad (TDI): Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh Thursday said that the successful conclusion of the SCO summit in Islamabad has highlighted importance of Gawadar for regional operations and connectivity.
Talking to PTV, he praised SCO summit as a resounding success, highlighting its potential to unlock new regional connectivity, opportunities and expressed optimism that exports will receive a significant boost through Gwadar Port, particularly as China relocates its industries to Pakistan.
In the joint declaration, at the conclusion of the SCO meeting, the regional leaders agreed to enhance connectivity and supported BRI and its affiliated projects.
Federal Minister expressed optimism about Gwadar Port’s potential to drive Pakistan’s economic growth.
He said that the port’s success is crucial for the country’s economic progress.

Commenting on developing economic trends in the region, he said that China’s decision to relocate its middle industries to Pakistan will significantly boost the country’s economy.
He said the relocation of industries is a strategic move, adding it will significantly affect economic growth and create numerous job opportunities in Pakistan.
This would uplift overall standard of living, he said.

Responding to a query, he said the SCO summit’s successful conclusion has earned Pakistan widespread appreciation for its exceptional hospitality.
“It is an honor to have hosted this prestigious event, showcasing our country’s capability to organize high-profile international gatherings seamlessly,” he added.
Dubbing Pak-China ties as a cornerstone of regional cooperation, he said that their bilateral trade has witnessed significant growth recently.
