SCO promotes soft image of Pakistan: Minister

Islamabad (TDI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit will serve as a crucial moment for Pakistan, enhancing its positive image on the globally.

Government officials and leaders as well as other delegates from the SCO countries are arriving in Islamabad for attending the international event to be commenced from tomorrow.

Speaking with the foreign media’s representatives in Islamabad the other day, Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan is emerging on the international stage, and the world is beginning to recognize its true potential.

The minister also highlighted the government efforts for successful foreign policy and on economic front. Pakistan has made significant progress this year in both foreign policy and economic sectors, he said. He said that the government adopted an open approach towards trade and investment.

The Minister said that the visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Pakistan was a step forward on economic front. During his visit, key discussions on bilateral relations, investment, and cooperation were held.

Similarly,  a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by the Saudi Minister of Investment visited Pakistan and signed several Memoranda of Understanding valued at 2.2 billion dollars to enhance bilateral cooperation, he added.

Now the visit of the Chinese Premier will be a game changer for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and it also aims at enhancing cooperation in various sectors, the minister further said.

The Minister expressed confidence that the SCO summit will serve as a pivotal moment for Pakistan, and portray positive image of the cfountry on the global stage.
