Karachi, September 06 (TDI): State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has shortlisted new designs for currency notes after a completion among designers for this purpose and careful review.
Earlier, an art competition was organised by the SBP for this purpose in which citizens and designers participated.
The designs submitted for this end were carefully reviewed by the the expert first and then selections were finalized, the central bank said.

Prizes were also announced for the local designers and artists who took part in the competition and their work was selected for submitting to the international experts.
State Bank shortlisted 10 to 5000 new designs. Two designs of 10 rupees, 500 rupees and two designs of 5000 rupees have been shortlisted.
Fatima Jinnah’s images printed on 500 rupee note and the picture of Quid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on 10, 20, 100, 500 and 5000 rupees notes.
Liaquat Ali Khan’s image has been placed on 1000 currency note. There is a chain of hands image on the reverse side of 1000 note.
The SBP said after due process new design will be finalized and now the selected design are being sent to international designers and they would be free to make a selection from the submitted designs or propose a different one with some amendment.
According to SBP Dr. Sherry Abdi’s ten rupee note designs won first prize and designer Mirza Sufyan second prize. While for design of Rs 20 note artist, and designer Mirza Haroon Khan bags first prize.
100 rupees and 5000 rupees note prize was won by artist, designer Ms. Maimoona Afzal.
The first prize of Rs 500 note was won by artist, designer Ms. Hadiya Hassan and the prize of Rs 1000 note was won by artist, designer Ms. Noreen Aslam.
The prize of Rs 5000 note was won by artist, designer Karim Muhammad.
