Riyadh, 15 August2024 (TDI): Mohammad Bin Salman, Saudi Crown Prince, has reportedly expressed his fears that he could be killed for supporting a possible normalization deal with Israel.
According to reports surfaced in the US media, the move of normalizing the ties between Saudi Arabia and Israel is being seen as a clever diplomatic move to get the deal done that Riyadh is comfortable with.
It is reported that the Saudi crown prince had mentioned his fears to different members of the US Congress citing the example of Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat, who was slain following a peace deal with Israel in the 1980s.
While discussing his threats with the US legislators, the Saudi royal explained that why any deal with Israel must include a path to a Palestinian state, particularly now when the war in Gaza has heightened Arab anger towards the Jewish state.
The deal, still clandestine and developing, is said to include multiple commitments from the United States such as security guarantees via a treaty, aid on a civilian nuclear program and economic investment in areas such as technology.

The media reports have further claimed that in exchange Saudi Arabia will set up diplomatic ties with Israel and limits its dealings with China.
The Israeli government, on other hand, has not shown its willingness to include a credible path to the Palestinian state in the deal.
