Havana, 17 September 2023 (TDI): Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, arrived in Cuba to lead the Kingdom’s delegation at the G77+ China Summit held from September 15 to 16.
Upon his arrival at José Martí Airport in Havana, Prince Faisal was warmly received by the Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Vito, along with Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, and the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Cuba, Faisal Al-Harbi.
Prince Faisal, representing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, participated in the opening ceremony of the G77+ China Summit.
The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, welcomed the Foreign Minister and several heads of delegations upon their arrival at the summit venue.
During this significant gathering, the Foreign Minister joined the official memorial photo session with fellow delegates participating in the G77+ China Summit.
The meeting was attended by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Cuba, Faisal Al-Harbi, and the Director-General Office, Abdulrahman Al-Dawood.
In these diplomatic interactions, discussions revolved around bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Cuba, emphasizing ways to strengthen and develop these relations across various sectors.
The aim is to realize the shared aspirations of both countries and their people.
Additionally, the participants addressed global developments and the international efforts underway to address them.
On the sidelines of the G77+ China Summit, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan also had a crucial meeting with the President of the Union of the Comoros, Colonel Azali Assoumani.
This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest and explore potential avenues for cooperation between the two nations.
The G77+ China Summit is a gathering of developing countries representing Asia, Africa, and Central and South America.
It was originally formed in 1964 and has since grown to include over 130 member countries.
The summit’s agenda encompasses discussions on global developments and the challenges facing the world.

Representatives from the 77 member countries and China participating in the summit will engage in dialogue regarding sustainable solutions to the world’s pressing challenges.
As part of the summit’s activities, Prince Faisal is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with representatives from other participating countries.
This participation underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to global cooperation and its active role in addressing international issues and challenges.
