Jeddah, 9 August 2021 (TDI): The Saudi athlete, Tareq Hamdi, who recently won a silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Men’s Karate Competition, was accompanied by Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Faisal, Chairperson of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee Landed in Jeddah to a hero’s welcome. After Hamdi arrived in Jeddah from the Japanese capital Tokyo, they welcomed the Saudi athlete with cheers and confetti to commemorate the 23-year-old’s historic achievement. The Olympic silver medal is still an outstanding achievement for Hamdi, who was hailed as an inspiring champion all over Saudi Arabia. Hamdi’s silver medal was the country’s only medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Hamdi achieved a heartbreaking result in the man’s hand +75 kg final when he lost the gold medal in a dangerous penalty kick at 41.
