Islamabad, 22 July 2022 (TDI): Samina Baig becomes the first Pakistani woman to climb the world’s second highest mountain peak, K2.

The pride of Pakistan, Samina Baig is appreciated by the whole world for her courageous move to summit K2. Previously, she had also made the historical record by climbing the world’s largest peak, Mount Everest in 2013.


The government of Pakistan congratulated her and called her the pride of Pakistan.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Shareef, praised her and her family for their achievement. He said that Samina Baig has emerged as a symbol of Pakistani women’s determination, courage, and bravery.

Additionally, the US embassy in Pakistan sent their good wishes to the first two Pakistani women, Samina Baig and Naila Kiani, to successfully climb K2, the world’s second highest peak.

US Embassy called it a historic day and accomplishment for Pakistani women.

Sajjad Haider Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus tweeted that Pakistan is a paradise for adventure tourists, with the mighty Karakoram, Himalaya, and Hindukush mountain ranges.

He highlighted that this week, three women, one from Pakistan, one from Iran, and one from Lebanon, surprised the world by summiting K2, the world’s second highest peak.

Samina Khayal Baig

Samina Baig is from Shimsha, a remote village in Gilgit Valley. She is a Pakistani high-altitude mountaineer who climbed Mount Everest in 2013, followed by the Seven Summits in 2014.

In addition, she is the first Pakistani woman to reach the summits of Mount Everest and the Seven Summits.

This time she and her team Summit the 8611meters highest mountain of K2. Several other climbers from different countries, including female climbers from Oman, Lebanon, Iran, and Taiwan, also reached the summit.
