In his inspiring speech at the festival’s opening ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the transformative role of “Sharq Taronalari” in promoting global harmony through cultural exchange:
“Although our forum is called ‘Melodies of the East’, today, in its essence and significance, it has become a festival of ‘Melodies of the World’.”

Samarkand, a city with a rich and storied history, once again became a symbol of cultural unity. The festival was held in the legendary Registan Square, known for its unique architecture and centuries-old history. Under the starry sky of Samarkand, melodies echoed that brought together people from all corners of the globe.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev eloquently captured the significance of this setting in his remarks:
“Look at the flags proudly flying over this magnificent square! You see here the symbols of many countries and peoples… This is a testament to the common roots and origins of all humanity.”
This festival was not merely a celebration of music but also an important political and cultural event, highlighting Uzbekistan’s role as a bridge between different civilizations. The choice of Samarkand as the venue for this festival reinforced its historical status as a crossroads of cultures, where East meets West.
One of the key events during the festival was the International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “The Musical Culture of Eastern Peoples: Principles of Creative Integration in the Processes of Globalization.” Scholars and musicologists from 32 countries discussed pressing issues related to the preservation and promotion of musical heritage in the context of global change.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his visionary approach, proposed the creation of:
“…a separate encyclopedia and its virtual version – a multifunctional information platform reflecting the history and traditions of the ‘Sharq Taronalari’ festival, containing extensive information about the rich and diverse musical culture of the East.”
This initiative underscores Uzbekistan’s commitment to using modern technology to preserve and disseminate cultural heritage, making it accessible to future generations around the world. The discussions and outcomes of the conference laid the groundwork for future collaborative efforts in cultural preservation and exchange.
The festival’s competitive program provided a platform for young talents from various countries to showcase their skills on the international stage. The winners were awarded prestigious prizes and financial incentives, emphasizing the importance of supporting young musicians and vocalists.
This also highlights Uzbekistan’s dedication to promoting culture as a means of international dialogue and cooperation.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s focus on nurturing the next generation of artists was evident as he highlighted the festival’s role in discovering and supporting new talents:
“Over the years, our forum has uncovered the names of dozens of talented singers and musicians, gifted young people, giving them wings to fly, and empowering their creativity with strength and inspiration.”
These words reflect the festival’s broader mission to not only celebrate established artists but also to invest in the future of global music and culture.
In his speech, President Mirziyoyev placed special emphasis on the role of culture and art in fostering peace and harmony in today’s world:
“In such a complex situation, true art, music, and literature, drawing strength from sacred sources, must emerge as a life-affirming force that brings people peace and goodness, transcending the boundaries of time and space.”
This statement reflects a deep belief in the power of culture to overcome political and social barriers, uniting people through shared values and aesthetic ideals.
