SAARC CCI, Chengdu Sign MoU at Sichuan Conference

China (TDI): Pakistani business leaders with representatives from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI).

They participated in the 2024 Sichuan-South Asia & Southeast Asia Business Development Cooperation Conference.

The theme of the conference was “Green, Open, and Sharing”, coordinated by SAARC CCI. The conference aims to strengthen regional cooperation and advance the Belt and Road Initiative.

The delegation includes Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Butt, Secretary General of SAARC CCI, Mr. Mubashir Ahmed Shahid, Managing Director of INFONEX BPO, and Mr. Nasir Mehmood, CEO of Shah Posh. The delegation focused on expanding economic ties between China and South Asia.

Strengthening Regional Cooperation

Member of Pakistan’s National Assembly and Former Deputy Chairman of the Senate highlighted the role of regional collaboration in boosting economic development He appreciated China’s leadership and its efforts to encourage trade and development across South Asia.

Acting President of SAARC CCI outlined South Asia’s immense market potential. Also, emphasized the need to overcome technological and infrastructural challenges to unlock its capabilities.

CPEC’s Strategic Role in Economic Development

Mian Anjum Nisar reinforced the strategic importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in fostering Pakistan-China relations. He remarked, “CPEC is a mainstay in strategic partnership and transforming regional infrastructure”.

Mutual Benefits of China-South Asia Cooperation

Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial Provincial People’s Government, Mr. Hu Yun called for deepening economic ties between China and South Asia.

Enhanced cooperation will yield mutual benefits for both regions. This will promote sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

Key Highlights and Agreements

The conference discussed high-profile events such as South Asia and Southeast Asia Opportunities and Investment Environment Promotion & Business Matchmaking and the Sichuan-Vietnam Construction Cooperation Project Promotion Conference.

These episodes facilitated dialogue on investment openings, cross-border trade, and economic collaboration.

The conference produced the prominent result was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SAARC CCI and the Chengdu Institute of Standardization.

Although this accord will establish economic and trade exchanges, industrial coordination, and personnel exchanges for enhancing the role of standardization in the development of business.

Future Collaboration and Growth

This 2024 conference drew attention to the importance of building stronger partnerships between South Asia and China.

However, this equipped the platform for business leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to explore new paths of cooperation.
