Moscow, 10 February 2022 (TDI): Russian President, Vladimir Putin, held talks with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart, in Moscow. The meeting took place on 10 February 2022. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss trade, economic and security issues.
The meeting started when Russian President, Vladimir Putin, extended his regards and welcomed the President of Kazakhstan. He further stated that this is the first meeting of both Presidents since January.
Russia and the security situation of Kazakhstan
During the talks, President Putin highlighted the situation when Kazakhstan fell victim to international groups and exploited the difficult situation for their benefit. In this regard, this meeting is expected to be fruitful for the future bilateral relationship as well.
It is pertinent to note that situation is restored in Kazakhstan. Accordingly, President Putin said that Russia played a positive role in restoring the balance of Kazakhstan. Nevertheless, Russia is a part of CSTO and played its part per Article 4 of the Treaty.
Along these lines, the Russian President noted that the leadership of Kazakhstan, armed forces, and law enforcement agencies played a vital role in stabilizing the situation. Indeed, they are loyal to their duty, oath, and the people of Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, President Putin said to the President of Kazakhstan that he has a great deal of work to restore what was lost at that time. In addition to that, President Putin thanked President Kassym-Jomart to develop and stabilize the conditions of the country.
Trade and Economic Prospects of Russia and Kazakhstan
During the talks, President Putin hoped that the Russia-Kazakhstan relationship will continue to prosper in the economic field. Last year, trade between both states grew by more than thirty-four percent. It reached almost US$26.5 billion which is a sign of good momentum. Fortunately, both states have entered good figures in trade partnerships.
Lastly, President Putin remarked that both states have much to work on large projects in energy, space exploration, and engineering. In this regard, the total Russian investment is around US$18 billion. In brief, the future holds healthy bilateral prospects for both states.
