Moscow, 21 January 2022 (TDI): The Russian Team Kamaz-Master won the 2022
Dakar rally in the category of trucks, on 14th January. The rally was inaugurated across the
large terrains of Saudi Arabia that started on 2 January to the 14th. Furthermore, it consisted of twelve stages where the performance of the Kamaz team was good.
This was the 44th Dakar Rally which caught the attention of different racing stars. The
final round of the rally was held on 14 January 2022. Moreover, the Russian team was
represented by Dmitry Sotnikov. Sotnikov and his crew, Ruslan Akhmadeyev and Ilgiz
Akhmetzyanov won the final stage by passing through a land area of around 164
kilometers in just 1 hour 42 minutes, and 42 seconds also.
RESULTS OF THE OTHER TEAMS
Big Shock Racing Team, the runner-up team, was representing the Czech Republic.
The squad consisted of Martin Macik, Frantisek Tomasek, and David Svanda. The crew
finished the last stage and was just 32 seconds behind the winning team.
Moreover, the Team of Chile, Teatra Buggyra ZM Racing, got the third position with a time limit extending 1 hour 43 minutes and 42 seconds. The lead of Chile’s team was Ignacio
Casale. This rally has been also conducted since 1978, annually. For the very first time, the Russian crew of Kamaz-Master won every stage of the rally.
Its total time for all the 12 stages was 48 hours 23 minutes and 21 seconds. Moreover, this was the 18th time that the Russian team grabbed the victory cup from the world-class racing teams.
MESSAGE OF DMITRY CHERNYSHENKO
Before the race begin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Chernyshenko, was
much hoping for the victory of the Kamaz-Master crew. Later on, he congratulated the
team for their wonderful performance as well. Chernyshenko has a ministerial portfolio
in government to oversee sports, culture, and tourism.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has also congratulated the squad on their win. In his message, he stated:
Dear Dmitry, Ruslan and Ilgiz! I sincerely congratulate you on your triumphant win at
the 2022 Dakar Rally in the trucks category. It is gratifying that our great racers with
their new equipment managed to prepare themselves perfectly for this endurance rally,
accurately calculate their strength and display their outstanding athletic qualities.
