Russian Gas Exports to Central Asia Jump 15% in 2025

St. Petersburg (TDI): Russian natural gas exports to Central Asia rose by 15% in the first eight months of 2025 compared with the same period last year, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller announced at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (PMG Forum 2025).

Miller attributed the increase to accelerating economic growth across Central Asia, noting that the region’s economies could expand by up to 60% over the next five to six years. He said natural gas would remain a central pillar in meeting the region’s surging energy demand.

“When comparing the first eight months of 2025 with the same period in 2024, Russian gas deliveries to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan grew by 15%. These are substantial volumes,” Miller stated.

He also highlighted the role of ongoing infrastructure projects, including those linked to the Power of Siberia-2 megaproject, in enhancing gas supply routes and boosting regional connectivity.

Gazprom had earlier reported that its gas exports to Central Asia doubled in 2024 between January and August, with deliveries to Uzbekistan reaching the maximum technical capacity of the Central Asia–Center pipeline, levels typically observed during peak winter demand.
