New York (TDI): Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, has crossed the $500 billion net worth mark, putting him nearly halfway to becoming the first trillionaire in history, Forbes reported this week.
The Tesla and SpaceX chief briefly reached a personal fortune of $500.1 billion on Wednesday before dipping to $499.1 billion later in the day, according to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires tracker.
The milestone follows a rebound in Tesla’s stock after a rocky period marked by Musk’s foray into politics, along with steady growth across his companies.

Musk, 54, currently sits far ahead of other billionaires. Oracle founder Larry Ellison ranks second with $350.7 billion, while Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg comes in third with $245.8 billion.
The South African-born entrepreneur first made his fortune in the late 1990s after selling a software company to Compaq for more than $300 million.

He went on to co-found what became PayPal, before launching SpaceX in 2002 and joining Tesla as chairman in 2004.
Both companies have since grown into global leaders in their industries, cementing Musk’s status as one of the most influential, and wealthiest, figures in the world.
