Islamabad (TDI): The Embassy of Russia in Pakistan hosted the international patriotic awareness-raising campaign on April 25. The event brought together diplomats, teaching staff, and students to commemorate the lasting legacy of the Great Patriotic War, fought during the Second World War.
Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev participated in the event alongside other staff members of the Embassy.
The goal of the campaign was to promote historical literacy among the students as well as foster patriotism and pay tribute to the those who participated in the Great Patriotic War.
During the event, contestants engaged in the victory dictation, a knowledge assessment test which featured 25 carefully crafted questions dedicated to check the aptitude of contestants regarding the key events, milestones and figures of the Great Patriotic War.
The winner of the test was able to correctly answer 24 out of 25 questions and demonstrated a deep knowledge of the major events of both the Great Patriotic War and World War II.
According to the test, the participants availed the opportunity to learn about the history of the conflict in the exhibition “Creators of Victory” organized by the Victory Museum. The exhibition highlighted the significant achievements of the Russian military leaders, soldiers as well as civilians whose contributions secured victory and freedom for the future generations of Russia.
Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, spoke during the event emphasizing the significance of preserving historical realities and educating the young generation about the sacrifices made by the Russian military and civilians during the war.
He further underscored Russia’s commitment to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to the Government of Russian Federation, “Victory Dictation” took place in more than 80 countries worldwide. During the event, participants could also take the online tests, with materials that were available in four languages – English, Arabic, Spanish, and Chinese.
