Washington D.C (TDI): US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held an important meeting today in Washington D.C, reaffirming the significance of the US-Egypt partnership in promoting regional peace, security, and stability.
Both ministers discussed issues such as Gaza and Syria and discussed a possible economic partnership that would benefit both countries.

According to the official statement released by US Embassy in Egypt,
Secretary Rubio expressed gratitude for Egypt’s efforts in mediating the release of hostages, ensuring humanitarian aid deliveries in Gaza, and facilitating medical evacuations.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for close cooperation to advance post-conflict planning for Gaza’s governance and security, stressing that Hamas must not be allowed to govern Gaza or threaten Israel again.
Trump first suggested on January 25 that Egypt and Jordan should take in Palestinians from Gaza. In the days ahead, he proposed a U.S. takeover of Gaza and a potential permanent displacement of Palestinians from the enclave with no right of return.
Contrary to this, the United Nations has expressed concerns about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with many civilians affected by the conflict.
Furthermore, many countries, including Pakistan, Ireland, China, Russia, Kuwait and, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Palestine, did not recognize the plans of President Donald Trump to take over Gaza and reconstruct it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Moreover, the two officials also discussed the situation in Syria, highlighting the need for inclusive governance and preventing the country from becoming a hub for terrorism or a threat to its neighboring states.
They focused on possible steps to maintain stability in the region. Moreover, regarding Sudan, they urged the concerned parties to cease hostilities and to expand humanitarian access.
Additionally, they focused on Egypt’s water security concerns and possible ways to maintain security through the river. At the same time, Secretary Marco Rubio and the Egyptian Foreign Minister discussed a potential trade partnership between the US and Egypt.

They insisted that it is crucial for promoting regional peace, security, and stability, with cooperation on various issues, including counter-terrorism, displacement concerns, and economic development.
