Beijing: 27 July 2021 (TDI): The Republic of Korea (South Korea) is all set to send the 8th batch of remains of martyred Chinese soldiers from the 1950-53 Korean War. The Chinese Ministry of Veterans Affairs announced the news on Monday.
As per the reports, the batch will arrive in early September this year. The arrival of the remains is a result of the 2014 consensus between South Korea and China where both sides, based on humanitarian spirit and international law, agreed to transfer the remains of martyred Chinese soldiers back to China.
Until now almost 716 remains of Chinese soldiers have been transferred from South Korea to China. The last transfer i.e. the 7th batch was in September 2020 where almost 117 remains were brought to China via an Air Force plane.
History tells that almost 2.9 million Chinese soldiers participated in the Korean war and almost 200,000 died while fighting. A special unit of the South Korean army is responsible for recovering the remains of dead soldiers and has successfully sent 716 remains of Chinese soldiers back to China.
