Lahore (TDI): The Punjab government on Thursday approved the deployment of Rangers in three districts of the province, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Attock to maintain law and order.
The move comes ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest in Islamabad on November 24.
According to the Punjab Home Department, two wings of Rangers will be stationed in Rawalpindi and Attock, while one company of Rangers will be deployed in Jhelum.

The official order states that Rangers in Rawalpindi and Attock will be deployed starting November 22 for an indefinite period, while in Jhelum, the deployment will be limited to November 22–27.
This decision has been made based on recommendations from the respective district administrations.
The Punjab Home Department had formally requested the Federal Ministry of Interior for Rangers’ assistance.

According to a spokesperson for the Home Department, this step has been taken to ensure public safety and address any potential untoward situations.
The development comes a day after the Interior Ministry approved the deployment of Rangers in the federal capital ahead of PTI’s protest in Islamabad.
