Tehran (TDI): For the first time in three decades, Tehran, Iran has displayed Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s posters at prominent locations to show solidarity with Pakistan.
The initiative was aimed at supporting the commemorative events held by the ECO Cultural Institute (ECI), the specialised cultural cooperation agency of the 10-member Economic Cooperation Organization, based in Iran’s capital.
The ECI collaborated with the Urdu Language Student Union of Iran and Pakistan’s Embassy in Tehran to organize events.

In his remarks, President of ECI Dr Saad S Khan, a Pakistani historian-turned-diplomat, who is author of several books on Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, underlined Jinnah’s visionary leadership and his key role in guiding the Muslim community towards freedom and unity.
Dr Khan also quoted Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s appreciation for Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, stressing his ever-lasting legacy as a leader of faith and determination.
The chief guest, Ismat Hassan Sial, Deputy Head of Mission of Pakistan in Tehran, Seydou Zataou Aly, Nigerian Envoy to Iran, Deputy head of Tajikistan Mission as well as many scholars, including Dr Zahid Munir Amir, Head of the Pakistan Studies Chair at the University of Tehran, Dr Rashid Naqvi, Dr Ali Bayat, Dr Ali Kavousi Nejad, and Hasan Naqvi also addressed the event.

The ECI arranged essay competitions in Urdu, Persian and Turkish, while performances of patriotic melodies dedicated to Quai-e-Azam, live sketching and the launch of a documentary on the philosophy of Iqbal during the week of celebrations.
