Qatari Foreign Minister meets with the US Secretary of State

Washington, 13 November 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, attended the conference on the Afghanistan issue. He said that engagement is the only solution rather than isolation for the Afghanistan nation. The Foreign Minister of Qatar met the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Antony Blinken, in Washington.

The priority of the State of Qatar is to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches Afghanistan, especially with the advent of winter, adding that Qatar is ready to facilitate some humanitarian help. His Excellency said that the State of Qatar is in constant support with the United States, noting that both countries agreed on the paramount of meeting the needs of the Afghanistan people, making sure for safety, and preventing them from violence.

Moreover, the Foreign Minister of Qatar pointed out that his country had provided food supplies, medicines, health care facilities, and the continuity of schools in Afghanistan. Furthermore, Qatar encouraged the participation of international organizations in giving this funding, especially with the approach of winter.
