Istanbul, 30 January 2023 (TDI): The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with the President of the Republic of Turkiye, Tayyip Erdogan, on Saturday in Turkiye.

During the meeting, they reviewed regional and bilateral relations between the two countries discussing methods for development, current events in the region, and topics of mutual interest.

Qatar-Turkiye Relations: A Summary

Since the early 1990s, Qatar and Turkiye have enjoyed a strong relationship. Both countries shared a profound cultural and historic bond.

Today’s Qatar and Turkiye are significant players in the Middle East. They have cooperated to advance harmony and stability there.

Both countries have played crucial roles in the peace negotiations between the Syrian government and the opposition. They have also provided humanitarian supplies to the Syrian people.

The two have extensive commercial relations in addition to their political partnership. In the Middle East, Qatar is one of Turkiye’s main trading partners, while Turkiye is one of Qatar’s top investors.

Turkiye is home to several most prestigious universities in the region. Qatar has made significant expenditures in research and education.
