Doha, 29 November 2022 (TDI): The State of Qatar extended its solidarity with the people of Palestine on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Qatar and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) showed continuous cooperation with the people.

The UN observes the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 29 of each year. It seeks to show support for the Palestinian people.

In international forums, Qatar emphasizes that the UNRWA’s crucial function is essential as long as the refugee crisis exists and that it is the responsibility of the international community to fund the UNRWA so that it may carry out its mandate.

The UNRWA’s primary resources would receive a total of $18 million from Qatar Fund for Development over the course of two years, according to an announcement made in November.

The UNRWA emergency program in Syria, which includes financial aid, education, health care, and vocational training, received a $7 million contribution from the Qatar Fund for Development.

In accordance with the demands made by the General Assembly in resolutions 32/40 B from 2 December 1977, 34/65 D from 12 December 1979, and later resolutions approved under the agenda item “Question of Palestine,” Palestinian Day is marked every year on the second Friday in December.

Events on Palestinian Day are held at the United Nations (UN) regional offices in Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi as well as its headquarters in New York. On November 29, which marks the anniversary of Resolution 181, this day is observed.

This strategy was developed in 1947 in an effort to end the Israel-Palestine issue by dividing the nation into two states.

In order to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity, Palestinian Rights should continue to put on an annual cultural event or exhibition about Palestinian rights in partnership with the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the UN.

The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People resolution further urges Member States to continue promoting and supporting the Day of Solidarity with as many people as they can.
