London, 29 July 2022 (TDI): The world’s most famous five-day festival, commonly known as the Glorious Goodwood festival, takes place in the Goodwood Racecourse, Chichester, United Kingdom (UK).

The Qatar Glorious Goodwood festival is one of the undisputed highlights of the British Flat Racing season. The spectacular five-day festival is held each year in late July.

Moreover, the racecourse welcomes nearly 100,000 spectators annually. This year, the festival was held from 25th July to 29th July. The total prize money for the festival in the various races is about 5 and a half million pounds.

Britain’s famous horse racing festival is known as the “Qatar” Goodwood Festival due to the sponsorship of Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), a Qatar state-backed racing authority.

A historic 10-year sponsorship deal of more than 2 million euros was signed in 2014. Due to the sponsorship, Qatar’s name was added to the event’s name.

The sponsorship deal will expire in 2024. With the signing of the agreement, the festival has become a forum for the best and most prestigious stars of horse racing in the world.

Moreover, the festival has turned into a global celebration of this sport due to the diversity of categories and the massive number of fans who attend the festival each year.

Five-day Festival

Day 1 of the festival is known as the Goodwood Cup Day wherein the € 500,00 Goodwood Cup is showcased. Whereas Day 2 is called the Sussex Stakes Day.

The attention on Day 2 is focused on the Qatar International Stakes of the first category of purebred Arabian horses for a distance of 1600 meters. It is considered one of the largest runs of its kind in terms of financial prizes in Britain.

Additionally, the total prize of the run is 40,000 pounds which is a prominent mark in Arabian horse racing worldwide.

Furthermore, Day 3 is known as Ladies Day. On this day, participation is limited to females only. Moreover, the most prominent runs of this day are the Qatar Nassau stakes of the first category of purebred female horses. The prize money for this race is 600,000 pounds.

Meanwhile, Day 4 is called King George Day which includes seven exciting horse races. Day 5 is called Steward’s Cup Day, the festival’s final day. On this day, the 250,000 euros Stewward’s Cup takes the center stage.
