Doha, 10 August 2022 (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani began his Asian tour on Tuesday.
During the tour, he will visit Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Korea. He will meet his counterparts, several high-ranking officials, and businessmen in these countries.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, said the tour would strengthen bilateral relations with Asian countries.
The bilateral cooperation would be in various important fields such as investment, trade, and energy.

He added that several regional and international issues would be addressed during the visit.
Sheikh Al- Thani would discuss maintaining ways of cooperation with his counterparts. He would also discuss enhancing joint action to solve issues of common interest.
Al Ansari pointed out that this tour and its discussions and agreements reflect Asia’s strategic position in Qatar’s foreign policy.
The visit also reflects the common desire to strengthen bilateral relations. The Asian continent is Qatar’s first partner in the energy market.
Recent developments Between Qatar and the Asian States
Sheik Al-Thani recently headed the delegation of the State of Qatar at the opening of the 55th meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The meeting took place in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. The State of Qatar also signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation with ASEAN.
Qatar’s accession to the treaty stems from the common will and desire to create a safe and stable area for societies to achieve sustainable economic development and common prosperity.
In addition, it shows the desire of both sides to create a common unity among people based on diversity and acceptance of the other.
Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam are part of ASEAN. Qatar’s relations with these countries are paramount to consolidating cooperation in various fields.
Asian states support Qatari efforts to enhance regional and international peace and security.
Qatar pays close attention to developing relations and cooperation with the Asian continent in general and with the ASEAN in particular.
