Qatar congratulates Pakistan on Independence Day

Doha/Islamabad, 14 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Ministry of Qatar congratulated Pakistan on its 75th Anniversary of Independence Day through a tweet.

Moreover, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al Thani congratulated the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on its Independence Day.

He conveyed the greeting of the Emir of State of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the President of the Republic of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, and Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif.

This year, Qatar and Pakistan also celebrated the 49th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations as two brotherly countries.

He remarked that during this period bilateral relations have developed significantly in different areas, including political, economic, and defense cooperation.

History of Independence Day of Pakistan

The countries of India and Pakistan were once combined and called The Sub-Continent collectively. The Muslim majority region of the Sub-continent fought for their independence on the basis of the Two Nation Theory.

The Two Nation Theory explained the differences between the Hindus and Muslims. It further explained how both religions living together as one nation were not possible.

Therefore, Pakistan emerged as an independent country on 14th August 1947, breaking away from British authority.

Sixty million of the ninety-five million Muslims on the Indian subcontinent became Pakistani citizens at the time of its creation. Subsequently, thirty-five million Muslims remained inside India making it the largest Muslim minority in a non-Muslim state.

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Founding Father of Pakistan was also the first Governer General of the nascent country. Whereas, Liaquat Ali Khan was chosen to serve as its first Prime Minister.

Qatar- Pakistan Relations

Pakistan shares warm and cordial relations with Qatar as well as excellent brotherly ties. On matters pertaining to regional and global affairs, both Countries have always been on the same page.

Pakistan places considerable importance on its relationship with Qatar which is based on strong foundations of common faith and culture.

Furthermore, the relations have been strengthened through enhanced bilateral economic cooperation and interaction between the private sectors of both countries.

The five main mutual sectors of investment are banking, insurance, and services sector which include tourism, IT, telecommunication, oil, and gas.

Pakistan’s investment in Qatar is mainly in real estate, construction machinery, and the technical services industry.

The Government of Qatar and Pakistan enjoy an exceptionally cordial relationship and intend to widen cooperation in economic, defense, and political sectors to ensure mutual growth and benefit.

The governments of both countries are determined to promote bilateral relations on a broader front.
