PTI Celebrates Trump’s Return to White House

ISLAMABAD, (TDI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has extended its congratulations to Donald Trump following his historic win in the 2024 US presidential election.

The PTI took to its official X (formerly Twitter) account to celebrate Trump’s victory, tagging President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.

Trump triumphed over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, securing 277 electoral votes compared to Harris’s 226.

In its congratulatory message, PTI remarked, “The people have spoken, and their mandate has been respected—something starkly different from Pakistan, where the public’s mandate was blatantly stolen.”

Senior PTI leader and former President Arif Alvi also sent a personal letter to Trump, referencing a message he had written in July condemning the assassination attempt on the former president.

In his letter, Alvi emphasized the importance of free and fair elections, noting that the U.S. electoral process allowed citizens to express their will, empowering them to pursue their dreams under Trump’s leadership.

“We look forward to continued cooperation as democratic nations,” Alvi wrote, expressing optimism that Trump’s victory would resonate globally, particularly among authoritarian regimes.

Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, also offered his congratulations, hoping the new U.S. administration would help strengthen ties between Pakistan and the United States.

“We hope this new administration will work to deepen the bond between the people of our two nations,” Khan said.
