Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Hub Power Holdings Limited (HPHL) have signed an MoU to set up EV charging stations nationwide.
The agreement was formalized at a ceremony attended by PSO CEO Syed Taha, HUBCO CEO Muhammad Kamran Kamal, and other key executives.

Also, a new venture, Hubco Green (Private) Limited, is being set up to deploy EV charging stations across motorways, highways, major cities, and other key locations.
Pakistan has a National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP) that aims to transition the country’s transportation sector to sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. The policy includes incentives for manufacturers and targets for EV adoption.

As of January 2024, there were less than 15,000 electric vehicles (EVs) on the roads in Pakistan. This is a low number compared to other countries, such as India, which sold over a million EVs in 2022.
