Prime Minister of Bhutan welcomes UNDP Official

Thimphu, 3 December 2022 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lotay Tshering welcomed the new country representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Mohammed Younus.

The official was warmly received by the Prime Minister of Bhutan at his office when he arrived in the country.

Prime Minister Lotay Tshering gave his welcome speech saying “the arrival of Mohammed Younus is well timed with ongoing transformation activities. I’m looking forward to working even more closely.”

He added that he is committed to elevating his people from poverty and seeks to promote development in all sectors of the economy. The country will seek to work closely with him to promote the agenda of the organization.

The UNDP seeks to promote development in all sectors of the economy as part of the aim of the United Nations (UN) to promote sustainable development.

Mohammed Younus, Country Representative said in his speech that “I’m honored to call on the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lotey Tshering, as we exchanged views on Bhutan’s development priorities and aspirations.

As we seek to promote economic growth and public sector reforms. Adding to the fact that he is committed to being part of this great development.”

This engagement by these two leaders has been described by many as a way toward great achievements for the people of Bhutan.

The need to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) is a priority for every nation in collaboration with UNDP.

The people of Bhutan have benefited in one way or the other from the program of the UNDP as they have constantly received humanitarian support through the US government.

The visit will strengthen their cooperation with the organization. Bhutan’s commitment to promoting development has been in a great direction as they have taken many steps toward partnerships with many stakeholders who matter in the economy.
