Islamabad, 15 October 2022 (TDI): The Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, congratulated the Pakistan cricket team on winning the final of the New Zealand-Pakistan-Bangladesh Tri-series on Friday in Christchurch.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the whole team and wished them the best of luck for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

Pakistan team played with Babar Azam (C), Muhammad Rizwan, Asif Ali, Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Muhammad Nawaz, Haider Ali, Muhammad Wasim, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah.
The New Zealand team included Kane Williamson (C), Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Glenn Philips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Blair Tickner.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. New Zealand lost their first wicket in the opening over of the match. After that, Kane Williamson played well and scored 59 runs off just 38 balls.

Glenn Philips, Mark Chapman, and James Neesham also scored some quick runs and took the team total to 163 runs in 20 overs. Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan. He picked up 2 wickets for 22 runs in his 4 overs.
In response, Pakistan had a slow start. Pakistan lost Babar Azam in the 5th over. Then, Shan Masood and Muhammad Rizwan anchored the innings.
After that, Muhammad Nawaz and Haider Ali played brilliantly to help Pakistan get over the line. Nawaz scored 38 off 22 balls and Haider scored 31 off 15 balls.
Pakistan won the game in the last over with a six by Iftikhar Ahmed at the deep square leg. Mark Chapman bowled brilliantly for New Zealand. He picked up 2 wickets for 14 runs in his 4 overs.
Muhammad Nawaz was declared Player of the Match for his superb performance. He scored 38 runs off 22 balls and also picked up 1 wicket.
