Kyiv, 28 November 2023 (TDI): President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held a phone conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia on Monday. One of the topics under discussion was the Peace Formula, according to the statement released by the head of the Ukrainian state.
According to a statement released by the President of Ukraine, the two “discussed recent events in the Middle East” and strengthening ties between Saudi Arabia and Ukraine.
“We also discussed strengthening Ukrainian-Saudi relations and implementing the Ukrainian Peace Formula” Zelensky added.
Moreover, Zelensky has been in close communication with the Saudi Crown Prince almost every month since the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted a summit discussing the peace plan in August.
In May 2023, Zelensky made his first trip to Saudi Arabia, where he met with the crown prince and urged Arab leaders to back Ukraine’s peace initiative.
Saudi Arabia played a key role in the negotiations with Russia regarding prisoner exchanges, which helped Ukraine arrange a significant exchange in September 2022 that involved almost 300 individuals.
Ukraine Peace Formula
Zelenskyy first announced his peace formula at a November summit of the Group of 20 major economies, which included:
Nuclear safety and radiation, with an emphasis on reestablishing security surrounding Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine, which is currently under Russian occupation.
Food security, which includes safeguarding and guaranteeing Ukraine’s grain exports to the world’s poorest countries.
Energy security, emphasizing price controls on Russian energy resources and helping Ukraine repair its power grid, which has been damaged by Russian attacks to the extent that half of it needs to be replaced, and release of all prisoners and deportees.
Restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and Russia’s reaffirmation according to the U.N. Charter which Zelenskyy claimed is non negotiable.
Restoration of Ukraine’s state borders with Russia, together with the withdrawal of Russian soldiers and the end of hostilities. Establishment of a special court to prosecute war crimes of Russia.

Moreover, the Peace Formula incorporates, avoiding ecocide and safeguarding the environment, with a particular emphasis on demining and restoring water treatment plants.
Furthermore, it prevented the escalation of the crisis and created a security framework in the Euro-Atlantic region, including guarantees for Ukraine.
Lastly, a signed document by the involved parties which confirms the end of the war.
Russia, in response, rejected the peace proposal and refused to give up any of the territory that it acquired.
