Chongqing, 23 August 2021 (TDI): President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to a China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) forum on the digital economy and the Smart China Expo 2021, which both opened Monday in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality.
Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and The Secretariat of Business Council of SCO arranged a special E-commerce seminar titled ‘China-SCO Digital Economy Industry Forum’. The seminar was held both offline and online and was sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC, Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, Ministry of Commerce of China, SCO Secretariat, and the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government.
Wang Jue, Deputy Director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce moderated the seminar and introduced speakers. Sherali Saidamir Jononv, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, Qian Fangli representative Ministry of Commerce PRC, Imanaliev Daniyar Sharshenbekovich First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Kyrgyz, and Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh Ambassador of Iran to China addressed the opening session of the conference. A Memorandum of cooperation on the joint creation of a cross-border e-commerce platform was also signed during the seminar.
The seminar also featured keynotes speeches from experts representing China, Pakistan, Belarus, and SCO. Muhammad Asif Noor, CEO of Belt, and Road Consultants Pvt Ltd and Diplomatic Insight Group, represented Pakistan and shared his keynote address. In his keynote speech, Asif Noor highlighted the value of E-commerce for the Pakistani market. He also highlighted the current state and future development trend of the digital economy in Pakistan. Mr. Noor also underlined the vision of Prime Minister Khan for a digital Pakistan and the strong digital impact of CPEC and BRI for Pakistan.
Business experts from SCO member states including Sergey Dmitrienko, First Vice President of the Union of Industrialists of St. Petersburg, Sezgin Taskin, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Turkey in China, Chen Wen, CEO of the international online marketplace Alibaba.com, Zeb Khan, Former CEO of Shanghai Cheezmall, Vice President of OPAY (Pakistan), Ma Wensen, Head of the People’s Government of Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County of Chongqing City and Zhu Mingyue, Founder and General Director of the electronic platform “zbj.com” shared their experience and ideas regarding cross-border E-commerce. A large number of business evangelists, experts, representatives, and students from all around the world joined this insightful seminar.
