 Kazakhstan President expressed concerns over Afghan Crisis

Nur Sultan, 23 August 2021 (TDI): Monitoring the Kaysar-2021 tactical drills, The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the latest developments in Afghanistan have posed certain risks to its neighbors in Central Asia.

In his remarks, the President stated that Kazakhstan does not face direct security threats from Afghanistan. He emphasized that there are certain risks and menaces that can not be ignored considering Afghan developments. Therefore, he stressed that constant monitoring is consequential in order to respond to any unwelcomed activity by Afghanistan.

Taliban took over the control of  Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on 15 August 2021 following the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
