Beijing, 2 April 2024 (TDI): President of China, Xi Jinping met and held talks with the General Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement and President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto in Beijing who is on an official visit to China.
President Xi congratulated Prabowo on his victory in the elections and also asked Prabowo to relay sincere greetings and best wishes to President Joko Widodo.
Furthermore, both sides recalled the rapidly developing and fruitful bilateral relations between the two countries over the past decade under the leadership of the two heads of state.
President Xi highlighted that both sides have made Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway and example of high-quality bilateral cooperation and enters a new stage of building a community with a shared future.
Moreover, the Chinese President said that China views its relations with Indonesia from a strategic and long-term perspective and is willing to deepen all-round strategic cooperation with Indonesia.
He further said China will work with Indonesia to build a China-Indonesia community with a shared future that has regional and global influence, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples and contribute to regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.
Indonesian President-elect Prabowo conveyed President Joko Widodo’s sincere greetings to Xi, and said he is delighted to make China the first country he visits after being elected.

Lastly, Prabowo said he supports the development of a closer relationship with China and will continue the country’s friendly policy toward China.
Prabowo Subianto, who is currently the defense minister of Indonesia, was announced as the winner of the presidential elections by the Indonesian General Election Commission on March 20. Subianto will succeed President Joko Widodo as the new President of Indonesia.
President-elect Prabowo Subianto and his running mate, candidate for vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, secured approximately 60% of the votes in the elections contested on February 14th.
