Djerba, 19 November 2022 (TDI): The President and First Lady of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, and Jeannette Kagame have joined other World Leaders in Djerba, Tunisia for the 18th La Francophonie Summit.
The Summit which is scheduled to take place today will convene a lot of World Leaders who will look more into the relationships between all the Francophone countries. President Paul Kagame arrived last night with his wife to participate in the summit.
The Summit which has been held once every two years could not be held in 2020 because of the COVID-19 restrictions. The Summit brings together many States and international observers.
Theme for the Summit
This year’s summit is held on the theme ” Connectivity in diversity – the digital vector of development and solidarity in the French-Speaking world.”
The French-speaking countries have witnessed a lot of successive overthrown governments, especially in West Africa French-speaking countries.
The theme will seek to ensure that all that is a need in this digital world is integrated into French-speaking countries.

The solidarity of each country is also a key factor to all the participating countries, and this has been the reason for the said theme to be held under.
Also, Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie will be present. She has served the Organization bloc since 2018.
She is a Rwandan and has continued to work closely with President Paul Kagame, to promote the success of the organization.
Other Heads of State Present
Other World Leaders to attend include the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan among many others.
Aim of La Francophonie
La Francophonie has always committed to promoting the French language and cultural diversity across the world. Also, it seeks to promote peace, unity, educational help, and higher institution research among many member countries.
The Presence of Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda has shown the contribution Rwanda has continued to show toward the body.
