Rome, 2 November 2021 (TDI): President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas met his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella, in Rome.
President Abbas arrived at the Quirinale Palace, where he was greeted by President Mattarella and many high-ranking Italian officials. In the bilateral meeting, they discussed the latest political events in Palestine, especially the attacks by Israeli occupying authorities. Furthermore, the status of Jerusalem and the political efforts with the Palestinians were also in question.
President Abbas emphasized the importance of further developing the relations. Likewise, he thanked Italy for its position in supporting Palestinians in international forums. For his part, President Mattarella explained his country’s view of supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and his desire to maintain a cooperative relationship between Italy and Palestine.
