Samarkand, 15 September 2022 (TDI): President of Iran, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi met with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, on Thursday. The meeting happened on the sidelines of the SCO Heads of Council Summit.

During the meeting, the Iranian President mentioned the historical, cultural, and civilizational common grounds between the two nations.
Along with it, he further emphasized the necessity of efforts to strengthen bilateral economic relations between Iran and Kyrgyzstan.
President Raisi said, “In addition to bilateral relations, the two countries can also advance their efforts in the field of regional cooperation with the participation of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan”.
He added, “Iran is ready to exchange its experiences and achievements with Kyrgyzstan”.
The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, on his part also expressed his satisfaction with this meeting. He expressed gratitude to Iran for its medical assistance to the people of Kyrgyzstan during the coronavirus pandemic.
Kyrgyz President further said, “The development of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is a priority for the government of Kyrgyzstan”
President Sadyr Japarov also stated that “the completion and launch of the Bandar Abbas-Central Asia strategic railway as an important factor in the development of economic cooperation between Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan”
Further, he emphasized the need to accelerate the completion of this project.
About SCO Summit
The 22nd SCO Heads of State Council summit is taking place on 15-16 September in Uzbekistan. The event is being attended by the leaders of SCO member states that include Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, India and Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
Moreover, the Presidents of Turkiye, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan are also participating in the summit this year. During the summit, the leaders will hold discussions on expanding multilateral cooperation. Further, there will also be an exchange of views on regional and international issues.
