President of France embarks his visit to Uzbekistan

Samarkand, 2 November 2023 (TDI): The President of France, Emmanuel Macron embarked on his visit to Uzbekistan on November 1, where he arrived in Samarkand city late Wednesday, as part of his two-day tour to Central Asia.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov welcomed the head of France at Samarkand International Airport on November 1.

After being received by the Uzbek Prime Minister, the French President was welcomed by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Registan Square in Samarkand city, and later on visited the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex.

After this, both Presidents were expected to visit the Eternal City as well.

As per the statement issued by the Uzbek Presidency, “Upon arrival in our country on an official visit, the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took a walk through the night in Samarkand.”

The bilateral talks between the Uzbek and French President will be taking place today.

The President of France started his official regional visit to Central Asia on November 1, when he first paid a visit to Kazakhstan.

During his visit to Kazakhstan, the French President held a closed-format meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, a meeting of expanded composition along with the delegations of both countries, and held a press conference on sharing the agreements reached between the governments of Uzbekistan and France.

After that, the Presidents of France and Kazakhstan also attended the Kazakh-French Business Forum where both parties stressed and agreed on exploring new areas of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Besides that, the French companies held meetings with the President of Kazakhstan as well to inform the Kazakh side of new French programs to be launched in Kazakhstan for bilateral partnership.
