Belgium, 1st September 2021 (TDI): President of the European Council, Charles Michel, spoke with the Prime Minister of India on the phone. Both sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan. They communicated about working together to counter terrorism and to deliver essential humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. The meeting concluded by addressing the importance of the international community in holding any future government accountable for abiding by international values. They agreed that the key element will be the response of the international society to the recent development in Afghanistan.
