EU thankful to Germany for Afghan evacuation

Belgium, 1st September 2021 (TDI): President of the European Council, Charles Michel thanked the Chancellor for Germany, Angela Merkel for their tireless efforts for the safe evacuation of European Union nationals, which included the staff members and their families from Afghanistan. They discussed the current issues at hand; the challenges faced in achieving broader European Union agendas. He affirmed the EU has taken up its global responsibility seriously and has exported about 700 million vaccine doses to 130 countries. The EU’s top priority is its vaccination strategy to combat the deadly COVID-19. The EU will keep working on a more prosperous region by focusing on sustainable development and rebuilding a greener, healthier and clean EU.
