Israel’s government and Hamas have agreed to a four-day ceasefire, allowing for the release of 50 hostages held in Gaza in exchange for 150 Palestinians imprisoned in Israel. Additionally, the pause aims to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave.

Reuters reported that the deal may bring hostages home in a peaceful manner, Biden said. In a statement, he affirmed, “This agreement today is expected to secure the return of more American hostages, and my commitment remains unwavering until all are safely released.”
Additionally, Biden thanked Qatar and Egypt for playing an important role in the release of hostages who were stuck at the Rafah crossing and the Gaza Strip. However, the Qatar Foreign Ministry confirmed the deal through social media. They briefed that the start of a pause would start within 24 hours.
As per Doha, this agreement is set to continue for four days and is subject to possible extension. The Qatari ministry mentioned that the humanitarian break will also facilitate the arrival of more humanitarian convoys and relief aid, including fuel allocated for humanitarian purposes.
This deal has seemed to be done between Hamas and Israel. In this regard, both sides will have to release hostages under certain conditions. In addition, Hamas said Israel will release 150 Palestinian women and children held in Israeli jail.
As Biden administration elucidated the situation going on in the Gaza Strip. He further added that he is in touch with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar and President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt “as we work to ensure this deal is carried through in its entirety.”
